Big Lou McEachern 125 gram demo cast: 767 ft. New U.S. record.
We were lucky as the rain held off for the event,. Although the number of casters was down, the casting was some of the best seen in the USA. Big Lou busting 800 and Jerry hitting his personal best. We had new comers who had never attended an event blast into the sport with some great distances. Curtis Brinkmann (CB) had seen Hector cast at the Texas Dike, read Ron’s book, and watched the Breakaway video, and achieved a very respectable 520ft cast with a very smooth casting style. He said “the only things that had seen him cast before were the cows in the neighbors field”.
A big thank you to Jerry and Debbie Valentine and family who provided the hospitality and food to make the event memorable.
Big Lou Comments: as posted on the Breakaway Message Board.
I told him he could use .28 line :-)
YEEE HAAAA, had a great time, good to see every one. Old friends and new ones
alike.
I am getting a bit old to be pushed as hard as Jerry does. Being behind until
the next to last cast is nerve racking.
Several new casters did a good showing. Hope they continue to practice and
improve.
Magic, you better watch out ,,,,Gundoctor is setting his sights on you. LOL
Dylan,,your back,,just keep at it.
Almost Brenda,,we are all rooting for you. If we could have made you mad ,,I
think you would have broke the record.
Jerry,,I am sorry it was your record I broke. Do you think that son-in-law will
be available for the Nat'l next year?
I sure could use a caddy!!!!
Those that did not make it,,,,,you missed a GREAT day.

Four score years and seven, our forefathers. :-)
Hey everyone,
A huge THANK YOU to all who attended our Crystal Beach Casting Classic. You made
it a great success. A special thanks to Nick & Surfgirl who worked unendingly
throughout the tournament. Everyone helped in moving the field when called on.
We had a wonderful time. Special congratulations goes to Big Lou for a job well
done. People, this guy is a true champ. Late in the game, I was lucky and hit a
good one that went out in from of Lou, only to make him go to the line and hit
the 812 marker. Wow! What a champion. Big Dave, what will it ever take to beat
this man? LOL.
Lou, I am proud to have the privilege to even be on the same field with you,
even more, I have the even greater privilege to call you my closest friend.
Congratulations go out to all the winners. Chris Brinkman (CB), had a great
tournament hitting 520 in his first contest. Many others like myself had their
personnel best shots. It don't get any better that that.
Lets look forward to next year when Bob Sales and his Sportcast USA staff will
bless us with their hosting the event. This event will prelude the Worlds the
following weekend.
Thanks to all,
Jerry Valentine
