Port A Jetty's 01/29/03
Arrived at the jetties just as the sun was starting to break through the early morning fog. The water temperature was in the high 50s and Spooner was not sure how his lures would react in this low temperature. We did not have to wait long before the Fat mamas started to produce. Spooner has out fished most people on the jetties using his hand made lures. The fat mamas he uses when the water temp is below 60 as he can work the lure slower and keep it just off the bottom. When it worms up he will go back to his long casting 3oz Outcast. Any color seems to be working and again the secret is in letting the lure sinker low into the water. He would cast and let it sink for about 15 to 20 seconds before he started his slow retrieve.
Picture of the Fat Mama which you can purchase from Breakaway.
This Trout was
caught on the South Jetty, on the South side, using a white Fat Mama.
This Red was caught
in the Channel using a red and white Fat Mama.
This gentleman was using
Rattle Trap, South Jetty, South Side
The biggest one of
the day was this fine 27 inch Trout caught on a rattle trap.
Its defiantly worth getting up and working out on that slippery jetty if you want some fish.
Spooner has promised that when the water gets above 60 on an outgoing tide the Spooner lures will produce.
