PINS 11/18/02

Another great day on PINS. Being a bit on the drag I did not hit the beach until about 8.30pm. On the north end of the beach the water was a bit dirty. As I went south I could see the bluer water getting closer. Finally in the high 30s the blue hit the beach and so did the bait. In patches the birds were working the bait hard. I could see a nice cut off in the 40s and the birds were hard at it. As I slowed I could see Mr Jack racing through the gut. Brenda was the first to hook up producing a nice 27 in red. As soon as she had landed that she was in again , this time it was making her work for the picture. Mike hooked at the same time and after about 30 minutes landed a sizable healthy Jack. Brenda was another story. As soon as he picked up her live Mullet he shot over the bar into the next gut. She was using an 8ft Breakaway light with a Diawa Millionaire 203A loaded with Powerpro 8/20 . She fought this fish for over an hour, he was full of it. As soon as she gained line he would strip it off. "Run after run". He never did give up the fight and fought all the way to the beach. As soon as he had his picture taken and hook removed, I placed him in the water and he shot of like a sprinter. If you get a chance and want your line stretched  follow the birds and catch a Jack. These are defiantly one of the best fighting fish lb for lb we have. If you want a greater challenge contact Billy Sandifer http://billysandifer.com  and he will put you on to them with a fly.
