My Diary

12/05/04

The forecast was not that great but the early start had us arriving on the North end of PINS before the blanket shaker had chance to ripple the surface.  It was calm with just small waves defining the bars. The Pelicans were working the North end close to the black top on what I assumed were Mullet. ( I never did see any Mullet all that day) They were moving quite fast South so I had to get in front of them to set up for a couple of casts then back to the truck and get back in front of them. The way they were diving it was a good bet it was Mullet being hit by Jacks. I slung my Spoonr's at then but never hooked up, it was overcast and that might be the reason I did not get one of them.  I caught up with Max and we decided to head south. Fished in the 30s and picked up a couple of Pomp's on Fishbites and some whiting that we used to catch these Reds.

Max wit a red.

Caught this one on a back cast chunk of Whiting

Clint and Bonny finely got out of bed and joined us. Clint caught this Red in the 30s, had a nasty bite out of it. It was a slot but Clint let it go because it had survived the Shark bite. When that Red got bit by that shark I bet it never realized how lucky it was. If it had not been for that bite, Clint would have bitten it and I assure you it would not still be swimming in the Gulf now.

All Reds were released to fight another day. Driving was great, Little weed in the 20 and 30s clearing south. Water clean North end slightly dirty in high banks then clearing south.
