My Diary
Playing the warm water hunch.
06/28/04
The fishing has been a game of feast and famine, one day you can
go in and slam them, next day you cant buy a bite. I went in on Saturday
afternoon about 3 pm and the water was dirty on the North end but clearing
enough to try some top waters after the 12. Brenda wet her Frog, :-) (A type of
Skitter Walk Lure) and caught this 25 1/2 inch. 5lb trout.
I decided to get an early night and fish Sunday as the forecast was not that bad with favorable winds in the prediction.
As I came to the end of the black top the water was still dirty, driving south below the twelve we started working top waters. Walking in to the water, I was surprised at the drop in temperature, it had dropped at least 10 degrees overnight, and was still milky. I decided to head hard south. It was all the way to the 55 before the water cleared and became colder. In the cold water, I could not see any bait and the absence of birds was a sure sign of no fish. I decided that I would take some pictures of all the landmarks on the beach for you all.
The fishing did not improve until we got back to the ten on the North end. TW. was the only one who was really doing well landing 3 trout one at 6lb using Skitter Walks in the warmer water.
The driving is OK and water is clearing. Weed slight, watch for water temp and focus in the warm areas. Regards Nickaway
As I noticed the beach was so empty I have decided to post this poll.
